This is a story of people who are obsessed with desires. In 1889, Seattle got a big fire, unfortunately. Residences and commercial facilities were burned since it was constructed of wood.
So New Urban planning was created after this fire. This plan was filling lowlands since the sea level in Seattle was originally low and sewage problems occurred. the purpose of rebuilding was to improve it. But while planning and rebuilding, people could not use the lands for business.

They rebuilt buildings before the urbane planning had started. Of course therefore they had to live. Or for their huge desires, money, better life, and good food. ( you can understand the reason why the book title is āprofit of the sonā. )
As the plan proceeded, the building that was constructed by businessmen left underground gradually. And people forget its existence.
But one man preserves a part of it, and you can go around there on a tour, with a guide.
I could not understand all, but she told us many episodes. And pamphlet includes those episodes and is translated into several languages.
